Is Lockerz a scam or is it legit?

Is Lockerz a scam or is it legitimate? Just this afternoon while I was doing my routine, my co owner of this blog was bothering me to sign up for a Lockerz account, The website is simple, You earn points by playing games, watching videos, answering questions daily, referring friends and by signing in. You earn 2-4 points just for doing so, and when you accumulate enough points, you can redeem your prizes like Macbook, Ipods and others.

But the BIG, HUGE, SUPER question is, Is Lockerz for real, is it legit? Well I’ve googled it and majority says that it’s not scam and about 20-30 percent say it’s a scam. I’ve also looked @ youtube for reviews and there are actually some users who uploaded the unboxing of their prizes so I’m really confused if it’s legitimate or what. So I’ve decided that I’m gonna give it a try. I’m aiming for a Macbook pro that I can use for my business. I’ll be updating this post if I get an answer myself if it’s for real or not.

Update: after 2 days I’ve already accumulated 254 points and 15 friends have accepted my invite. I basically did it by watching vids . I need 5 more to be a Locker Z lister and play games as well (which means more PTZ). I should also receive a Lockerz shirt upon 20 friends joined and I will be able to know if Locker Z is legit – If they can’t me a cheap shirt there’s no way on earth they can send me expensive gadgets.

Wi-tribe 4G Internet Broadband, is it any good?

4G internet broadband is now here with 1Mbps consistent speed. This is what wi-tribe is offering now for a price of P998 per month.
If you look at 1Mbps consistent speed at a price of 998 per month you would say it is affordable compared to other network providers who offers up to 3Mbps for 799 but you barely get 1Mbps. But what’s the catch? Wi-tribe has a 3gig volume capacity per month. If you consumed the 3gig bandwidth your internet speed will be trimmed down to 256kbps, well it’s not consistent after all because of their fair usage policy. If you are a heavy user your 3Gig will only last for 3 days, though you can still download during off-peak hours from 1am-7am to get the 1Mbps speed.
If you plan to subscribe I suggest you ask everything you need to ask to your sales agent and better if you have a demo unit first installed in your home and test it. There is also a lock-in period of 2 years which means you have no choice but to pay Php998 per month for two years whether you will use it or not.

If you are happy with it then get it.

As for me, I will just stick to Sun broadband for now (like I have a choice) and hopefully after my 2 year contract with them Wi-tribe will increase their cap limit to 10Gb

Samsung Star Wifi – Panoramic Shot capable

After 3 months use of my samsung star I am beggining to get bored. Aside from the only 2 preset samsumg star themes loaded, the fone is now sluggish. But restarting and deleting some messages will make it more responsive again, I don’t know if there is a memory leak on this model or It’s just my fone.But when I was about to convince myself that I wasted my money I found something interesting.

Did you know that you can take panoramic shots from your samsung star? Yes my friends! I didn’t know that it is capable of taking panoramic pictures before I bought. It has been my favorite feature.

How to use this feature? Palesa’s blog explains how to take panoramic shots with Innov8, but basically it’s the same with gt-s5233w (star wifi).

Here are my sample shots that I took in Ilocos, post-processed in Photoshop.

My money was not wasted after all, and I bought a cool smoked black jelly case (P100) and 3.5mm jack (P60) adaptor in St. Francis, my star rocks! \m/

Samsung Star Themes and Skins

I bought my Samsung star wifi last week as a Christmas present for myself. The “iphone like” touch screen and slider thingy made it easy for me to decide. You can never see another phone this good with the same price. And by the way, it has wifi too!

There is one thing, just minor though, that the samsung people should have added. There should be an option to add or install a new theme. It has 2 pre-installed themes only, why??! I’ve spent an hour looking for “samsung star theme” and “samsung star skins” over the internet they were nowhere to be found. Is it because it’s not possible? I believe I need to hack the phone to change or add a color theme I want. But I won’t do that to my phone yet haha! Let’s just hope some phone hackers will make this available for us sometime soon. In the mean time I will just share some of my samsung star wallpapers that I did.

Sun Broadband Wireless | Review

I think it’s about time for me to give a review on my sun broadband for you guys who are planning of getting one.

One month ago I subscribed to sun broadband’s 649 package, If you have an existing sun postpaid plan you just have to add 649 on top of your phone bill to avail it no need to pay for the kit. But if you don’t have a post paid subscription you can buy the USB kit for 1800 + 799 monthly.

What I got was the thumb drive style, I don’t know if they have other colors but I got the white one.

It has an SD slot so it can be used as a flash disk, good add-on.

I used it with vista and tried on XP as well and have not encountered any problem installing the software. You can check the signal strength from the installed sun UI.

It was activated when I got home and I was able to surf right away without waiting for 24 hours activation period. I was surprised with the speed of my page load, faster than the wifi connection I’ve been stealing from my neighbor for 4 months haha.

The device has a light indicator to determine 2g, 3g or 3.5g connection. Green – 2g, blue – 3g and cyan – 3.5g. Good thing i have 3.5g signal here yey!

Page load is just normal, as a blogger this satisfies my need. But if you like to watch streaming videos downloading and things like that you will be frustrated.

I tested the download speed by downloading a file from rapidshare and I got 80-100kbps during the first week but degraded to 40-50kbps on the second week.
Now (after 1 month) 10-15kbps… Yeah that’s freaking slooowww! And it doesn’t end there, I get disconnected once in a while. I can’t even download a 100mb file now because I get disconnected while downloading.

I hope they can improve it just like what they did in their unlimited calls.

I love the fact that it is wireless but it should be called sun dial-up instead, not broadband.

Greenwich Pizza Mp3 Player Promo

Have you seen the new mp3 player promo of Greenwich pizza?
I borrowed my officemate’s Greenwich mp3 player to give a review and he’s all willing to lend me for the weekend. Thank you sir!

For you to get this you need to have a food purchase of at least 800 pesos and you will have it for free. How cool is that? Well not really. Let’s start.

According to sir officemate (the owner) the stock battery just went dead after 5 minutes playtime. This is probably the world’s fastest draining battery ever! Good thing is you can always buy a replacement.

Looks
It’s replica of first gen ipod shuffle and somewhat adapted the sosy look. The play/pause buttons in front doesn’t do anything. The true buttons can be seen on the right side. The shape could have been perfect if not because of the triple A battery slot.

Sound Quality
It came with an ipod earphone replica as well, and the sound quality? No good. It’s tunog lata as we describe it. I tried to use my Nortek headphone and I get a fairly decent sound, not equalized though the way I want it but it’s not that bad.

Interface
It has a standard 3.5mm earphone jack so you can use any standard earphone/headphones out there. A direct USB connection to PC and you don’t need any cables whenever you need to plug in to put songs.

Storage
It has a 128mb storage space and can store about 30-50 songs depends on the bit rate you are using with your mp3s.

Usability
Turning ON this player is just easy, push play button. But it made me an idiot trying to see where I can turn it OFF, until I pulled the battery out to force it. I found out this morning that you have to wait for about 5 mins after clicking stop and it will automatically shutdown. What a school boy.

The verdict
It is free, so you don’t have to expect much from it. I won’t buy 800 worth of pizza for a reason of having this. But if you have to treat your friends or family for that matter (assuming your receipt is 800) then it’s worth it.

Cheap wireless keyboard and mouse

Last March, my gf bought me a wireless keyboard and mouse. We were just searching for a cheap one below 1000php ($25) that is decent enough for my need. Where can you buy below 1000 pesos wireless keyboard and mouse you ask? Well, we found one in Octagon (megamall), its only PHP 995. The brand is Nortek, never heard? Looks like it. Now, why am I talking about keyboard and mouse? Well not just limited to mouse and keyboard, I will be reviewing some of my stuff and maybe I can help other petiksters to decide what’s best for them to buy. haha! As if I have lots of gadget and stuff to talk about.

Let’s start with the keyboard.
The keyboard is classy, it says Italian design from the box but I don’t really see any Italian specific design in it or maybe I don’t know anything about Italian designs. lol! For me it’s just a keyboard that has a cool black and silver gray color, perfect for my black & gray CPU and LCD.
What I like about this keyboard is that it serves as my remote control as well. It has a play, pause, forward, back and even volume functions. Again perfect for windows media center if you are using vista.
I have not used other wireless keyboards before so i can’t really tell the difference but I won’t buy a keyboard for above PHP1000.
The keyboard needs 2 AA battery to juice up. I’m quite impressed that it has been 2 months and I have not changed the batteries yet. The keys are soft and arranged same as most laptops, less the num pad ofcourse. Rating 5/5 – love it!

Let’s move on to the mouse. Over here mousey mousey…
There’s nothing special about the mouse aside from the fact that it is wireless. It doesn’t have the curve form that fits my palm. It becomes uncomfortable after 2 hours of use. This is good as secondary mouse just perfect if you are being lazy to get up while watching movies and you need to click on something on your desktop. No wonder you can see this mouse on the side of the bed or under your pillow.
You need to buy 2 separate rechargeable AAA batteries as it will drain your normal batteries in 2 weeks with 2-3 hours per day of use. Don’t worry about the charger though because those guys who made this monster mouse included a dock where it can rest and charge its batteries. The most annoying about this mouse is that it has mind of its own sometimes. You need to have a mouse pad to run smoothly. I thought this was an optical mouse? Why does it need a mouse pad?
I’m still using my logitec mouse as primary and my wireless mouse secondary at the side of my bed. Rating 2/5, I should have given 1 but its wireless and it’s cheap.
