For those who have Xbox out there who find themselves in trouble of not knowing how to tweak their xbox 360 harddisk, this guide is for you. This guide is also for those fanatics who want to upgrade their xbox 330 hdd.

First and foremost, you need to know what type of Xbox 360 console you own, an Xbox 360 S console has a different instruction than the Orignal Xbox 360 console.

Now if you own an Xbox 360 S console, then follow this guide:

Note: The Xbox 360 S 250 gigabyte (GB) console has an internal hard drive, which can be removed and replaced. The Xbox 360 S 4 GB console has internal flash memory, which is not removable. The internal hard drive can be purchased separately.

Inserting:

  1.  Turn off your Xbox first.
  2. Position it horizontally for easier bulking.
  3. On the right side of the console, locate the hard drive cover release near the back of the console.
  4. Slide the release going to the front of the console while also puling the hard drive door open.
  5. Insert the Xbox 360 harddrive into the slot firmly until you hear the click which confirms that it is inserted correctly.
  6. Replace the hard disk drive cover.
  7. Turn it on for testing if it works.

Removing:

  1. Turn off your console.
  2. Position it horizontally.
  3. On the right side of the console, locate the hard drive cover release near the back of the console. It is close to the back of the console.
  4. On the right side of the console, locate the hard drive cover release near the back of the console.
  5. Pull the tab to remove the Xbox 360 hdd too.
  6. Replace the hard drive cover before turning the console back on.

For Original Xbox 360 owners, follow this:

Note When you handle your Xbox 360 hard drive, avoid touching the hard disk drive bay contacts or the hard disk drive connector with your fingers or metal objects.

Attaching:

  1. Turn off your Xbox 360.
  2. Position the back of the hard drive against the back of the hard drive bay.
  3. Put the front end of the hard drive down until your hear the sound of a click.

Removing:

  1. Turn off your Xbox 360.
  2. Locate the hard drive on the top of the console (or on the left side, depending on how the console is oriented).
  3. Press the release button.
  4. Pull out the Xbox 360 harddrive away from the console.

 

To check whether your system accepted your inserted hard drive, fire up your console. Press the Guide button and go the Settings to select System Settings. There, select Memory or Storage. Make sure Hard Drive appears in the list of Storage Devices. If it does not, try removing and reattaching the hard drive to the console.
