For those WordPress bloggers, who are tired of sharing their works the usual way, be happy because there is another way of doing that! You can now integrate Facebook by using a plugin. You can now spread news of stories, do social publishing, and make individual mentions.

The “Facebook for WordPress” plugin was built by Facebook engineers and open source partners. The good part is that you won’t need to do any coding because the plugin is mobile friendly and supports internationalization.

Facebook engineer Matt Kelly wrote in a blog post: “Once the plugin is installed, you can cross-post content published to WordPress to your Facebook Timeline and the Facebook Pages you manage, you can also mention the names of Pages and friends as you post to further distribute your content.”

Facebook blog posted the four features that WordPress will integrate. The widgets are the following:

  • Activity Feed: Shows readers their friends’ activity on the site, such as likes and comments.
  • Recommendations: Gives readers personalized suggestions for pages on your site they might like, as well as a Recommendations Bar option to give users the option to add content to their Timeline as they read.
  • Customizable Like, Subscribe and Send buttons.
  • Comments Box: Makes it easy for people to comment on your site and post back to Facebook, and includes moderation tools. The plugin also features automatic SEO support for Facebook Comments, so search engines can index them to improve your site’s visibility.

As of now, WordPress is the most popular publishing platform on the Web. It currently powers 16.6 percent of all sites. Also, 49 out of the top 100 blog are being powered by WordPress. These sites include CNN Political Ticker, Boing Boing, ArtsBeat, Grist, Hollywood Life, and several blogs for The New York Times. The integration of Facebook will even boost WordPress’ dominance over blogging sites. It will make sites more socially known for Facebook has the power to make known a particular site by using its vast social networking.
