Samsung Electronics and RTE Digital have now sealed a deal. The deal in which Samsung will have the upper hand on its Smart TV competitors. They will be the first TV brand to have the RTE Player App as part of its Smart TV software collection.

That deal will grant Samsung Smart TV users to access a selection of RTÉ’s flagship programmes, via the RTÉ Player App. The app will soon be available this month of June.Viewers will now be able to access popular shows of today such as the Fair City, Home and Away, Saturday Night with Miriam, Father Ted, and The Inbetweeners. They also added RTÉ’s GAA coverage. Viewers will now be able to access channels RTE offers anytime they want on their home big screen.

Samsung is the No.1 TV brand in Ireland, and RTÉ Player is the most popular catch up TV service, so this is a natural partnership. The launch of RTÉ Player is the latest addition to our ever growing library of great TV Apps, and further demonstrates our leadership in the Smart TV category. Catch up TV services are one of the leading drivers of Smart TV usage, so RTÉ Player will be a real added value benefit for Samsung Smart TV owners.” Said by Brendan Carr, Product Marketing Manager of Samsung Ireland.
