The application ran out of memory Illustrator Problem – The solution

Written by scant on March 10th, 2010

Are you an Adobe Illustrator user? If you are, I think know why you’re on this page. You’re probably very, very frustrated at this very moment trying to look for some answers. hehe. So you can’t save that large file artwork that you’ve been working on for the last couple of hours because when you do try to save it, a dialogue box gives you this message?

The application ran out of virtual memory. Please close some windows to free memory

Well, don’t think that God doesn’t love you anymore, because He does. In fact, He may have lead you to this site.

Why don’t you try this,

Go to Edit – Preferences – Plug-ins and Scratch Disks, if you see the dropdown for the primary click on the drive where windows and adobe is installed (In my case it’s in C drive)  and the secondary should be your second partition – (my case it’s on my D drive)

Restart Illustrator and see what happens. It will probably work but if it doesn’t, feel free to leave a comment and we’ll figure it out.

Have a good day.
