Blogging is popular these days, anyone can blog anything. Whatever topic, you name it they’re out there. But what motivates bloggers to blog? Simple, to make money online with adsense. This does not apply to all though, there are bloggers out there who writes for fun and just sharing what they know.

If you want to start your own blog there are few things that you need to know.

I will discuss you some points that I know it may help you.
This post is for newbies, so if you already know this feel free to add things that I might have missed.
I call this the “8 blogging tips for starters” hehe.

1. Domain name – Choose a catchy domain name that match topics that you will be blogging about and ensure that it is still available. You can check your domain name at http://www.internic.net/whois.html or direct to a webhost seller e.g. http://floroworks.com/domains/. If you are sure with the name, buy it!
2. Webhost Provider – Choosing a reliable webhost is very important. Your blog should be up and running most of the time, you may be losing visitors if your website is unreachable or slow. I use floroworks.com and have not encountered any problems at all. Their support is very helpful when I started this blog. It is important that your webhost has a 24/7 support just in case something happens. In that case try to contact the support lines or email before buying a webspace or domain. Buy at least 10Gb of bandwidth and 2Gb space. For sample packages check Floroworks packages here. For starters go with $3 package for now, you can always upgrade in time you need it.
3. WordPress – There are other CMS for blogging out there but wordpress is the most popular and very easy to use. The good thing about wordpress is it’s free! As a newbie you don’t have to know how to program or code a website, all you have to do is write your articles and publish. Visit http://wordpress.org to know more about wordpress.
4. WordPress theme – You want your website to look cool? Pick a theme that suits you. Just Google “wordpress themes” and choose the ones you like. Better if you make it simple and use a search engine friendly theme, you can search for SEO themes instead.
5. Promote – After you have written your first 3-5 articles then it is ready to be seen, but who would visit your site? You need to promote it! Become a forum member and promote your site from there, just be careful there are sites that don’t like promoting other sites so read forum rules before posting any link. Another promotion technique is to visit other related blogs and promote your site by submitting a comment with your website in it.
6. Google Analytics – You need to know how many visitors you get everyday. Google analytics is a free tool for tracking how many visitors you have per day, what keyword brings a visitor to your site, and other things like that. It is straight forward on how to use it; you just need to append the tracking code to your theme’s footer. Visit https://www.google.com/analytics/ for more info.
7. Google Adsense – Want to make money? Become a google adsense publisher and you will be paid per click or per impressions. Of course you will be paying your webhost so you will need some money to keep your website/blog going. know more about Google Adsense here https://www.google.com/adsense/
8. SEO Basics – This is very important if you want your blog to be found by search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. Read some Search Engine Optimization tips; there are a lot of them from the web, http://www.problogger.net/ is just one of them. But don’t worry if you don’t understand it yet, I don’t expect you to know everything overnight, be patient.
