Boxing gym near Eastwood, Quezon City: Power Punch
Written by scant on May 25th, 2009
Hello children! If you live or work near Eastwood City and if you’re tired of going to a regular slash expensive gym because it’s getting boring or the fats just won’t go away, I suggest you try working out in Power Punch BOXING GYM. I’ve been a customer there for almost a year now and it’s really satisfying.
What you need to bring:
1. Handwraps – This is very important as it will protect your hands from getting injuries while punching. I bought mine @ sporthouse galleria for about 130-150 pesos

2. Boxing Gloves – Unless you want to borrow the gloves in the gym that everybody who doesn’t have one uses , you need to bring one. Trusted brands such as Everlast, Twin or TKO will cost you about 2,000- 2,500 pesos depending if you’re buying the leather or the synthetic type. There’s also a local brand, Duelo , It only costs around 600-800 pesos, I almost bought a pair in Greenhills before if i hadn’t seen an original Speedo goggles that was only being sold for 400 bucks in the same store.

3. Face Towel – Trust me when I say you’ll be sweating a lot, because you will. The best way to describe it is ” tagaktak ang pawis”. The moment you lace up your gloves expect non-stop cardio. You will only get a minute of rest in between rounds.
4. Boxing shoes or Cross training shoes – A pair of boxing shoes would cost about 1,500 pesos but I wouldn’t really suggest that unless you’re 1oo percent sure that you will be regularly boxing. A pair of Nike cross training will do, that’s what I personally use because it’s not heavy and I can move in the ring freely. Please don’t come wearing top sider shoes.lol.
5. Shorts / T shirt / ” sando” – I don’t really have to explain this, As long as you’re comfortable and the people around you won’t be bothered by what you’re wearing, that’s fine. Don’t forget the extra shirts as well just like when going to a regular gym.
6. Water. water. water. and Gatorade. You’re a monster if you won’t need this! lol
7. Money – It’s only 150 per session if you’re a member, 200 for non-members (one to sawa). The membership fee is 700 pesos. They also have a monthly package, 1050 pesos/ 8 sessions. This includes a professional boxer personal trainer. However if you only want to use the BOXING GYM facility without the assistance of a trainer, you only need to pay 50 pesos. cheap huh? See you there!
BONUS:
Benefits of Boxing (from fitness.suite101.com)
1. It gives you an enjoyable cardiovascular and resistance training workout. The physical benefits that stem from activities including running, push-ups, sit-ups, star jumps, and punching either a heavy bag or focus mitts will not only make you stronger, they will also improve your endurance, making you go for longer. This will in turn assist you in other aspects of your life that include any type of physical activity.
2. it can also assist with developing certain mental attributes, including the development of confidence, determination, patience and focus. Boxing training brings on certain physical changes to the body. It tones, builds muscle, and changes its shape without you even realising. Many people want to look good, and if you look good, you will feel good as a result, which in turn increases confidence.
